A little about me
I grew up the oldest of four siblings in a small agricultural community in the Bay Area, California. I attended college briefly before going on a two-year, full-time mission serving the good people of El Salvador and Belize. Upon my return I completed a bachelor’s degree in English Teaching with minors in Business Management and Spanish from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.
Prior to graduation I somehow managed to find my dream girl and convince her to marry me. After accepting an opportunity with Teach For America, we moved to Dallas, Texas, where I taught high school English for two years. Having fulfilled my commitment with Teach For America, my family and I decided to move to Illinois so that we could live close to family. We love the Midwest with its beautiful colors and seasons, but also make time to visit family in California and Utah every summer.
My faith is very personal, but also the guiding force in my life. My family is everything to me and make life rich and fulfilling. Knowing that I’m far from perfect, I strive to be a little better every day, be a good person, and live a good life.
I’ve been working in financial services since 2016 and am thrilled to be the owner of Skyview Financial Planning, LLC.
Why young physicians?
Some of my closest friends are residents or new attending physicians. These are people who I have lived with, go to church with, and play on soccer teams with. Many of them are at a similar life stage as I am—trying to balance the demands of work while still taking care of their loved ones.
I am also deeply concerned that traditional financial planning firms have not served young doctors well. On the one hand, commissioned salespeople target them to sell their products, and on the other, it’s not uncommon that fee-only financial advisors won’t work with young doctors because they don’t yet have enough money to invest with them.
I built Skyview Financial Planning, LLC to serve the young physician who is looking for independent advice at a fair price.
